The RoboBees team 389 attended the St. Mary’s County Public Schools STEM Festival at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds to help promote STEM in the community. The FTC team demonstrated their robot by explaining how it operated and giving kids the chance to drive. There was also the option to build rockets out of paper and duct tape. The kids got the opportunity to learn about aerodynamics by testing different rocket designs including various body lengths, fin shapes, as well as fin quantities.
After designing their rockets, the kids then were given the chance to see their rockets fly by launching them with a compressed air rocket launcher. It was a great day of helping spread the message of STEM through fun activities that doubled as a lesson.
